Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias (UNINOVA) is a private non-profit research institute acting in the fields of robotics, electronics, micro/nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, environments, and vacuum/production technologies. UNINOVA is organized in centers of excellence, involving more than 150 scientists and technologists. In ROLL-OUT, UNINOVA will participate through the Centre of Excellence in Microelectronics, Optoelectronics and Processes (CEMOP) and Materials Research Centre (CENIMAT) of FCT-UNL. These are devoted to R&D within the field of functional materials, materials science, engineering & nanotechnologies, including their analysis and characterization, besides integration on devices/systems. Since 2006, it integrates the national associate laboratory named Institute for Nanostructures, Nanomodeling and Nanofabrication (I3N).
IK4-CIDETEC, a Technology Centre belonging to the IK4 Research Alliance, specialises in generating and transferring knowledge and technology in the areas of materials (nanomaterials, biomaterials and sensors), surfaces (ceramic and metallic coatings, surface processing) and energy (batteries, fuel cells and materials for energy systems). Our mission is to enhance business competitiveness and capacity for innovation through the development of new products and processes.
As many as 120 professionals work at IK4-CIDETEC; 95% of them hold university degrees and 50%, a PhD. The main aim of the researchers and technicians at IK4-CIDETEC is to transform the Centre's knowledge capital into sustainable solutions adaptable to mass production.
IK4-CIDETEC has two headquarters, one where the general services and research laboratories are located, and another one, home to the pilot plants, where our developments are scaled-up. Facilities cover a total 10,000 m2 with next-generation equipment and technologies that span the whole value chain, from science & technology research for knowledge building to scaling-up to industrial level.

Maier, S. Coop (MAIER) is one of the first plastic component supplier with up to 2,000 employees in 8 countries with global sales above 212 M€, being part of the biggest co-operative group in the world (global sales above 13,200 M€ and a workforce above 82,000 employees). MAIER manufactures components for the automotive industry, household appliances and consumer electronics. In Europe, MAIER heads, in particular, the development and manufacture of body colour painted front grilles, chromed caps, wheel-trims, wheelcaps and petrol cap lids, as well as producing a wide array of other automotive components and body modules (mudguards, consoles, air vents, fascia, door trims, handles, etc). MAIER’s technical centre with more than 100 employees offers support to OEMs and Equippers.
Maier Technology Centre (MTC) is an R&D company from MAIER Group dedicated to the research and development in the field of thermoplastic injection molding, decorative and assembly technologies and analysis and implementation of production facilities for automotive, appliance, telecommunications, etc The technological capacity of the centre is based on its team, currently formed of more than 100 people, mostly with technical skills (Higher Engineering with a strong vocation for research, development and innovation). MTC is the R&D Company from Maier S. Coop, but is NOT a beneficiary in this project. MTC will collaborate in some tasks with Maier S. Coop, but without claim for costs. MTC will contribute with automotive last trends feedback to MAIER; this contribution will be useful for the definition of the specification and requirements of the door handle and the design of the new mould. MTC will also contribute to the dissemination activities; estimated costs: 15k€.
MAIER is an experienced company in designing and development of components (injection, finishing/decoration and assembly); designing and manufacturing of prototype and production moulds; analysis and implementation of industrial facilities; and research, development and innovation. MAIER innovation procedure is always based on quality and accuracy methodologies which have led to more than 20 patents, from 1993, in automotive components and related processes.

The fabrics range from thin and light release to thick and heavy constructions for robust applications. FoV manufactures low weight silicone coated airbag fabrics for automotives since 1991. FOV’s customer base also consists of European leading brands within sports & leisure, outdoor, work wear and fashion. On the technical side we supply to leading companies within the automotive, health care, defence and electronic industry.

This is why FOV employs a fully integrated production process, consisting of warping, weaving, dyeing, laminating, coating, finishing and a well equipped lab for quality control and product development.
FOV Fabrics is very active within the field of smart textiles, where we co-operate with Universities, Research Institutes and high technology companies in other industries. Together with customers and suppliers we run a number of interesting development projects. Some of these projects have turned into commercial products and lately FOV has become a supplier to the Electronic Industry where the industry is buying electronic textile components from FOV.
